# Prepare for your first trial

> What should we have ready before starting?

A focused trial helps your team learn whether Chatropic can handle a useful support workflow with the accuracy, access controls, and operating effort your business needs.

Before starting, prepare the material and people required for that evaluation. A clear starting point is more useful than a long list of features to explore without an agreed outcome.

## Choose one customer request

Select a repeated request with a dependable answer source. A policy question can be a useful first workflow because it lets you evaluate knowledge behavior before connecting live customer records.

If the value depends on a live lookup, include that requirement from the beginning. “Explain our delivery policy” and “retrieve a customer’s current order status” need different preparation.

## Name an owner and a success criterion

Assign someone to review the results and decide what needs to change. Describe success in terms of the customer outcome, such as returning the correct policy and escalating requests outside it.

Avoid using “the agent sounded good” as the only criterion. Define what would make an answer wrong, what evidence is needed for an action, and which cases must go to a person.

## Gather the content and test questions

Prepare the current source of truth, remove conflicting versions, and write ten representative questions. Include ordinary wording, an ambiguous request, a missing answer, and an exception.

Record expected outcomes beside the questions. This makes it easier to compare an early draft with a revised version instead of relying on impression.

## Arrange access and human support

Choose a supported deployment channel. For a connected workflow, identify the technical owner, test environment, permitted operation, and customer identity checks before the trial begins.

Also decide who will respond to handoffs. Testing an escalation without a receiving team does not establish that the support process will work for customers.

## Keep the first evaluation contained

The trial is configured for 14 days with a limited pool. Use fictional records for demonstrations and avoid importing unnecessary customer information.

A fictional retailer might spend the first trial on delivery-policy questions, then evaluate order lookup as a separate extension. That creates a clearer decision than trying payment changes, multiple channels, and every policy at once.

Follow the [14-day evaluation plan](https://docs.chatropic.com/explore/evaluation-checklist.md) to turn this preparation into a sequence of tests and a documented buying decision.
